Alerts in action

An incident over the weekend shows how important certain types of alerts can be. On Friday night, around 9:30 PM local time, I received a "compressor off" alert from a SIemens Espree MRI in Texas. The TRIPWIRE system sent this as a text, so I received it as I was walking into a restaurant.

I immediately contacted the customer — who had closed for the weekend several hours earlier — and they initiated a chiller service call. By the middle of the next day, the chiller and compressor were back online and a severe helium loss was avoided. Here's the TRIPWIRE analysis of the event as shown by a dramatic rise in shield temperatures and then a return towards normal as soon as the chiller was fixed.
